Today it rained and it rained and it rained. The first good, proper Spring rain. A driving, thundering rain that forces itself into the earth, determined to wake up any of the still sleeping plants.
A good day for pots of tea. And for candles. I'd forgotten how peaceful candles in the daytime can be. A lovely foil to the torrent outside my window.
Which has - just now - given way to clearing skies.
We are getting snow, sleet and rain today... very dark skies. I'm staying home from teaching today, not feeling well. Its a good day to rest! I will surely light a few candles....
ReplyDeleteAh, I love candles. And rain! One of these days, I'm moving myself back to New England.

Not more snow, Valerianna! I do wish you a speedy recovery and a speedy arrival of Spring.
ReplyDeleteHello again, Em! I was thrilled by the first rainfall - had my window open as long as I could stand the draft just to hear and smell it. I wish I had visited New England when I lived in Canada - it seems like such a beautiful place.
Vielen Dank, Maria. Schon das Sie haben mein Blog besucht. (Und, bitte entschuldigen Sie fur mein schlecht Deutsch! Es ganz langsam kommt.)
Aw, sounds like the perfect afternoon! I'm looking forward to our next rainy day just so I can light some candles now. Probably won't have to wait long :)
ReplyDeleteCandles help create such a lovely tranquil atmosphere don't they? We had driving rain here for most of the day although it did clear by early evening and we took the dogs for a walk in the watery sunshine.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely, Roisin. I'm going to have to stock up on candles for the next Spring showers.
ReplyDeleteThere is something nice about going for a walk after a heavy rain, caracanartist. The air has a different feel to it. And - lots of puddles for your dogs to play in!
Oops...sorry caravanartist...I missed the "v" and hit the "c" key by mistake!
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of those heavy all day rainy windy cold Spring days-- though the buds on the branches and the shoots from the ground don't seem to care--eventually it does clear up.
ReplyDeleteSo far we've only had the one, Donna. I am hoping for more. (Maybe not too, too many more...) My favourite is a heavy rain at night.
