These are the results of the postcards I mentioned two posts back. (Only two posts, but many, many weeks I'm afraid. Been a bit preoccupied lately.) There was one for Valerianna, for Donna, for Jan, and for Velma. Thanks for taking me up on this fun project.
I wasn't sure what exactly I was going to make at first, but thinking about what I know of these four creative women from their blogs, and thinking of what I sorts of things I like to create, I decided on poemcards.
once upon a dream
in a city of lapis and amber
snaked narrow passages
dusted with gold
there lived an old woman
with eyes of coral
who spun mysteries
with the silk of her song
in the sweet pit of night
she sang dreams
carried on the warm
breath of ravens
after a lifetime of singing
dreams for others
she knew it was time to sing
a silken dream of her own
I love my poem fragment - and that it is complete alone, but also in company with the rest. Kind of like an empowered person, eh?
ReplyDeleteMine sits on the inspiration shelf of my studio.... thanks again!!
I was just looking at the photo of your card, that I posted on my blog, yesterday ... noticing how much I like your writing/calligraphy: especially the way you write the letter 'e' ... I have a book of calligraphy at home and I may have to re-consider how I put pen to paper. Thanks again for including me in this and for the lovely card. Yay! :D
ReplyDeleteHow totally awesome to see all the poemcards collected together! What a fantastic project, one that I'm happy to be a part of ~ thanks for including me!
ReplyDeleteThey're all lovely.....I'm drawn to the last one!

It was a challenge to create snippets which worked alone and together, Valerianna. Your analogy is perfect! So glad you like yours.
ReplyDeleteI love calligraphy, Jan, but I've never been terribly good at it - glad you liked it! (It's very unlike my day-to-day writing which is a haphazard mishmash of printing and writing and chicken scratch...) Must say, your photo of the card is much, much better than mine!
I enjoyed doing it, Donna. It was good to try something new - and nice to have a tactile exchange!
Thanks, Ruby!
wow, they are a lovely whole...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Velma.
ReplyDeleteI love these words, very lyrical and they suggest such stories and images... lovely writing :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked them, Carrie. I was trying to create bits which could then spin off into tales of their own.
